Caring for Sterling Silver Jewelry

Today I want to share with my readers how easy it is to care for your SilverTrove jewelry, or for any sterling silver jewelry.

To clean your jewelry, I recommend using a soft toothbrush and a little toothpaste.  Tartar control toothpaste works best, but any toothpaste you have on hand will work.  Make sure to rinse well while continuing to brush so no toothpaste is left.  Dry with a soft cloth to avoid water spotting.

To prevent tarnish, store your sterling silver jewelry in an airtight container and away from direct light.  A small food storage container or zip lock bag will work great.  Silver tarnishes faster in some climates.  If you have problems with tarnish in your area, let me know and I will include a specially treated tarnish resistant storage bag with your order.  You can also purchase silver dip that removes tarnish almost instantly.  If you purchased an oxidized piece, meaning that it has blackened areas, you won't want to use a silver dip because it will remove the oxidation.  Instead you can purchase a jewelry polishing cloth that will have your treasure bright and shiny in a minute or two.  If you need help finding any of these jewelry care products, please let me know.  I'm always happy to help!

Also, if your jewelry becomes dull because of small scratches, you can return it to me and I will polish it up like new again free of charge.  I also offer many free and low-cost repair services to my customers.  Please contact me through my Etsy shop before returning your jewelry.

With a little occasional attention, your sterling silver pieces can become heirlooms for many generations to enjoy!
